The Incredible Years

 “The Incredible Years” parenting program acts on the belief – that a child is the most precious of all human beings, and the ability to withstand the emotional and social challenges, clearly rests upon a caring relationship between parent, teacher and child.

The Incredible Years is evidence based and aims to reduce children`s aggression and behavioural problems as well as increasing social competence at home and school. This interactive course helps you build strong and lasting relationships with your children. Over 14 weeks your identified goals are addressed based on the following outline:  

  • One: Introductions, Goals, Child-Directed Play

  • Two: Child-Directed Play Promotes Positive Relationships

  • Three: Play—Academic and Persistence Coaching Promotes School Readiness

  • Four: Play—Social and Emotion Coaching

  • Five: The Art of Effective Praise and Encouragement

  • Six: Effective Ways to Praise & Using Tangible Rewards

  • Seven: Establishing Routines and Household Rules

  • Eight: Effective Limit Setting

  • Nine: Effective Limit Setting and Follow Through

  • Ten: Ignoring Children’s Inappropriate Behaviour

  • Eleven: Time-Out to Calm Down

  • Twelve: Time-Out for Aggression and Noncompliance

  • Thirteen: Natural and Logical Consequences

  • Fourteen: Teaching Children to Problem Solve

Throughout this course there is a strong emphasis on relationship building, coaching skills, emotional regulation and stress management for parent and child, problem solving and positive parenting strategies.
