Therapy Café Initiative

Therapy At The Well provides a collective of trusted holistic services where clients are treated as individuals unique in their experience. We aim to work with you to build strength, resilience, and goal attainment. Case assessment and therapeutic design are collaborative processes where clients are treated with respect and dignity with full acknowledgement that they are expert informants of both their recovery and their life journey. Our partners are essential to the collaborative approach and work collectively and closely along-side each other and the Not-for-Profit Cafe 175 At The Well. With this community focus we aim to support positive social participation, acceptance, spirituality, and motivation to work and develop skills.

Funding sources: we provide may include but are not limited to: Medicare, DVA, EAP, Workcover and NDIS Referrals (plan and self-managed)

Current services include: Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy

Helping People with disability, aging and chronic illness, stroke and neurological issues, cerebral palsy, dyslexia, chronic pain and injury, depression and anxiety, trauma, veteran affairs, autism and intellectual impairments.

Michael is a qualified Psychologist and Criminologist. He completed his formal education at Griffith University and Bond University. He has over 20 years experience and training in working with Couples, Children and Families, employers and employees and indigenous communities presenting with a wide range of life challenges and mental health issues. Michael likes music, cycling, playing guitar, writing poems , gardening and going to Church

He has worked in Community Health, Employee Assistance, Christian Counselling and Private Practice settings. His approach is warm, personable, and friendly with the aim of empowering and motivating individuals to move towards recovery.

He uses a range of techniques including Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Family Therapy, Schema Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, Play Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy. He has a particular interest in working with men, veteran’s, and people with disability, enhancing self-esteem across the lifespan.

Michael is a dedicated mental health professional who is passionate about helping individuals affected by mental illness and stressful life events find their strengths and work-life balance. Michael strongly believes that by empowering people to focus on their strengths and appropriate supports, they can learn to manage their challenges in effective ways.

Anna is a qualified Occupational Therapist (OT). She completed her tertiary education at University of Queensland. She has experience as an OT across areas including mental health, aged care, disability, multi-cultural populations, and pain management.  Anna strongly believes that with the right support people can overcome challenges to live a purposeful life.

Outside of work, Anna likes swimming, playing guitar, stand up paddle boarding and kayaking, cooking and sustainable gardens.

Anna is an understanding and empathetic clinician who loves seeing people achieve their goals and uses a functional, practical, and strengths-based approach. Her friendly and calm approach engages person centered care and choice. She uses a range of techniques including lifestyle interventions, goal setting, functional movement, exercise prescription to strengthen posture, hand dexterity and balance training, equipment and environmental considerations, sensory integration, emotional regulation approaches, somatic and remedial muscular therapy.

In the NDIS space, Anna is very keen on developing functional capacity for the optimal dining experience building hospitality skills with aim to integrate with community café and activities, work opportunities and functional independence in home life. Anna is able to complete functional capacity assessments for plan reviews and Assistive Technology trials and reports.

Jamie has a comprehensive background working with NDIS, community hombased care (home care packages, GEAT 2 GO and CHSP), aged care, veterans and refugees, paediatrics, rehabilitation and mental health, and return to work case management.

Jamie currently has capacity to complete:

·      Functional Capacity Assessments

·      AT- equipment prescription

·      Home Modifications- minor/moderate up to $10 000

·      Home Care Package Assessments/ Trials

·      GEAT 2 GO

·      CHSP assessments

·      DVA assessment- equipment prescription and home modification

 Jamie has a particular interest in assisting to improve mental health issues and increasing participation and quality of life through ongoing capacity building therapy in: 

-social skills, emotional regulation, somatic therapy, time and money management/budgeting, meal preparation, upper limb therapy, creating sensory, environments and supports, improving and managing anxiety and depression, falls prevention, increasing independence with all self care and household tasks.

When not working Jamie enjoys spending time with her family at the beach and practicing yoga and Pilates.
